The recent visit of Mrs. Curlewis (Ethel Turner) to this country recalls the fact that her daughter, Jean Curlewis, is also well known in Australia as a writer. Her first novel, "The Ship That Never Set Sail,” was published by Ward Lock, the same firm which twenty years earlier bad published her mother’s book, "Seven Little Australians.” Some time ago Miss Curlewis married Dr Leonard Charlton and went to England. On her return she was engaged to conduct “The Clearing House” for the “Home Magazine.” In addittion to several other stories, Mrs. Charlton has written a good deal of poetry. Mrs. Smith, 88 Willis Street, children’s outfitter and furrier, has a large staff working on fur repairing and making up new skins into coats, wraps and stoles. All worj; guaranteed.—Advt.
