AUCKLAND'S POPULATION
—4 A BIG INCREASE, By Telegraph.—Ph ess Association Auckland, May 28. Incomplete census returns show an increase of about 30 per cent, in the Auckland metropolitan area, and for the provincial towns and town districts less than W per cent. The counties show an increase, of about 16 per cent. If tho rate of increase is maintained in the returns to come the population of the province Inst April would be 443,000, as againef the 1925 estimate of 441,921, and is slightly less than one-third of tho wholo European population of New Zealand.
