Bruce Havelock Strong, charged with the murder of his father, Alexander Strong, at Smith’s Creek, near Murwilluinbah, New South Wales, was found guilty of manslaughter, and was sentenced to four years’ hard labour. Lord Stradbroke, who has just completed his term as Governor of Victoria, sailed from Sydney by the Aorangi yesterday He will spend some time in the United States before returning to England.
For the first time since the war Germans attended the Teachers’ Congress at Portsmouth. Herr Holme said that the invitation to participate was a proof of the British teachers’ openhearted attitude and desire to resume fricndlv pre-war relations. German teachers wanted to work shoulder to shoulder with British teachers in raising the education of the masses.— Sydney "Sun” Cable.
