STEAMER STRIKES ROCK
HOLDS FLOODED. London, March 26. When the steamer Garth Castle, bound for Cape Town, was approaching her anchorage at Ascension Island she struck a rock heavily. Her holds were flooded, and as no facilities for repair exist within 2000 miles, the vessel, with 418 passengers and crew, will have to wait till a relief steamer arrives from London.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
