AND THE NEW CHILD WELFARE BRANCH Mr. J. Beck, now in charge of the special schools branch of the Department of Education, becomes superintendent of the new child welfare branch which lias been created by the Act of last session, and which has grown up out of the special schools branch. Mr. J. R. McClure, now assistant-officer-in-charge of the special schools branch, becomes deputy-superintendent of the child welfare branch, as from April 1 when the Act comes into force. 'The appointment of Magistrates and Justices of the Peace empowered to sit in the Children’s Courts, and the appointment of the honorary Court associates, will be made in due course.
