A STRANGE CASE
ARREST ON FORTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD CHARGE. By Tblegbaph.--PuEss Association. CoFyeioHt. (Rec. March 29, 0.5 a.tn.) New York, March 28. A telegram from Asbury Park, New Jersey, says: Dr. Irwin Osbaldeston (aged 93), once physician for the British Government, au<j having private interests in Australia and New Zealand, is held here awaiting extradition to New York State, where he is charged with stealing a horse and wagon in 1880. Yellowed documents on which the arrest was made allege that Osbaldeston, then known as Edward Turner, was sentenced to gaol and escaped before paying the penalty. The physician, who stated that he is a son of a former Earl Onslow by a morganctic marriage, and was reared with tutors in London with the then Prince Edward, tlie future King, said: “It is simplv a case of mistaken identity.”— Aus.-N:Z.
