The Grey town Municipal Band has recently concluded a carnival week, and through the strong support given by the public there has been realised about £390, which is to be expended,.in buying uniforms and instruments.'.’ The king competition resulted in Mr J.k, F. Thompson being elected, and the others. —Messrs. H. Monson, —. Dawjs, and H. T. Rees —followed in that' order. The bands from Masterton, Carterton, and Martinborough joined the local band, and a massed parade was held and proved most successful. The largest number of people that has been in Grey town for a considerable time ".assembled, having come from all the Wairarapa district. Mrs. J. F. Thompson, a vice-president of the band, crowned the king and conferred favours on the other three candidates.
