Dannevirke, March 25. The season of sheep-dog trials is approaching, and the many Dannevirke enthusiasts are preparing to hold their annual trials, the place selected this year for them being Mr. J. McL. Harvey's homestead at Waitahora. The Kumeroa sheep-dog trials, however, come first. The dates selected for that meeting are the first week in April. Judging from the attitude of the Mangatainoka (Pahiatua) football club, the proposal that the Bush Rugby Union, Puketoi, and Dannevirke Rugby Sub-union, should amalgamate, is not finding the affiliated clubs by any means unanimous. The subject was discussed by the Mangatainoka Club in no uncertain way Mr. R. A. Williams said he would like to know how the “Bush” was going to benefit, seeing that each vear the union had had a stronger team than Dannevirke could raise, and, pointed out that even with the assistance of two noted members of the All Black team Dannevirke had only secured a draw with Bush when playing for the Bebbingtor, Shield. Rev T Mackv, of Knox Presbv terian Church, returned from Auckland on Wednesdav after an illness of some weeks, which detained him in Auckland.
