RUGBY REFEREES
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. “Dominion” Special. Masterton, March 26. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Referees’ Association was held last night, Mr, A. E. Freeman, the president, being in the chair. The annual report stated that members during last season had controlled over 400 games, and no complaints had been received through members failing to fulfil their engagements. A return match with the Wellington referees had not eventuated, but an effort would be made to have it played this season. The association extended its thanks_ to the Wairarapa Rugby Union for financial assistance, and to the proprietors of hotels in the Wairarapa for placing accommodation at the disposal of ■ members. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. A. E. Freeman; vicepresidents, Messrs. B. Wilson, C. Buck, J. Blake, and H. Matson; vice-president of N.Z.R.R.A., Mr. H. J. McKenzie; secretary, Mr. H. J. McKenzie; delegate to annual conference, Mr. H. J. McKenzie. The delegate conference was instructed to oppose the Auckland remit suggesting the removal of the headquarters of the New Zealand Association every three years; to oppose the Manawatu remit favouring the appointment of referees for interprovincial fixtures by the local appointment board; and to move that the next conference be held in Wairarapa.
