In apologising to Rotarians the othei day for being unable io accede to their request for something humorous (says an exchange), His Honour Mr. Justice MacGregor remarked that he could not, for two reasons—firstly, being a Scot by birth and training, and secondly, because in his official capacity he was not supposed to joke. “However.” added His Honour, “in court work witnesses and counsel usually provide - the humour, while the gentlemen of the Press manage to polish up for publication the rude jokes which are lying about the c<mriroom floor.”
