WANGANUI FERTILISER WORKS

NEARING COMPLETION.

AN ASSET TO DOMINION PROGRESS.

With the wider appreciation of the economic significance of superphosphate in increasing both the volume and quality of primary products of this Dominion, the approaching completion of the Wanganui Fertiliser Works must be viewed with the greatest satisfaction by all members of the community. As the key to increased production, so necessary to the welfare. of the Dominion, as well as the individual farmer, lies in the adequate use of high-grade superphosphate for top-dressing pasture lands and other fertilising purposes, these new works are a definite step forward in furthering agricultural and pastoral interests in this part of New RAILWAY FREIGHTS. Furthermore, they will bring a very real economy to all farmers in the central, southern, east, and west coast sections of the North Island by reason of the reduced railage in distribution. MOST UP TO DATE IN THE DOMINION. Being erected by the .pioneers of the superphosphate industry in New Zealand—Kempthorne, Prosser, and Co. s New Zealand Drug Company, Ltd.— the Wanganui Fertiliser Works will represent the “last word” in efficiency. All valuable experience gained by erecting and operating similar works at Bumside, near Dunedin, Hornby, near Christchurch, and Westfield, near Auckland, has been used to good purpose in planning and equipping the Wanganui Fertiliser Works to manufacture the very highest grades of “Westfield” Superphosphate, Basic Super, and Special Mixed Manures—a pomt of importance as it is now an established fact that the highest grade fertilisers pav the farmer best of all. ANNUAL PRODUCTION. ' The site comprises about 36 acres, 12 acres of which are covered by the works, which have been planned for the annual production of 30,000 to 35,000 tons of “Westfield” Superphosphate and Basic Super, with a further production 01 15,000 tons of Special Mixed Manures, making a total yearly output of 50,000 tons of highest grade fertilisers. FREE SOIL-TESTING SERVICE. For the purpose of removing guesswork from the determination of the nature and amount of manure a. soil may require, the Wanganui Fertiliser Works will maintain a very complete Analytical Department, equipped with the latest apparatus for the testing of soils and fertilisers. When there is doubt as to what constituent is short in a soil, and the degree in which it is short, a sample should be sent to the Wanganui Fertiliser Works for analysis. This course will enable, fanners to calculate the manurial requirements .of ; their land to a nicety, and so effect important cash savings as well as ensuring maximum returns without lengthy experiments. No charge is made for “soil testing,” neither does it carry anv obligation of any kind. PROVISION FOR IMMEDIATE DEMANDS. About August-September next will see the Wanganui Fertiliser Works in operation, meanwhile "Westfield” Su, perphosphate, Basic Super, and Specia Mixed Manures are carried in stock a* Wanganui for all immediate demands. Correspondence and orders should bq addressed to Kempthorne, Prosser, an/ Co.’s New Zealand Drug CompanyLtd., 14 Wicksteed Place, Wanganui.-J (Published by arrangement.)_j
