OTAGO AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, February 25. The Otago amateur golf championship was continued in unsettled weather today. In the Morning W. G. Wight (St. Clair) beat E. W. Cave (Otago), 9 up and 7 to play He went out in 37. A. J. Hunter (Otago) defeated A. N. Haggitt (Otago), 9 up and 7 to play. Hunter went out in 35. A. S. Hasell (New Plymouth) finished 4 up on W. Clayton (St. Clair). H. Brasch (Otago), on the twenty-ninth green, beat A. B. Reed (Otago). F. V. Drake (St. Clair) beat T. H. A. Richards (Christchurch), 2 up. There was a number of byes in the first round. The bogey match played in the morning was won by J. B. Matheson (St. Clair), with a score of 2 up. The three best cards were: J. B Matheson (St. Clair), 2 up; E. Tamblyn (Otago), 1 up; H. Stevens (St. Clair), all square. In the afternoon the mild weather made play good., Closely contested games resulted. A. J. Hunter (Otago) beat D. H. Butcher, his club-mate, on the eighteenth green. G F Barnett won 2 up, on the, sixteenth green, after a closely-contested game. K. Brown accounted for A, S. Hasell (New Plymouth), 7 up and 6 to play. W. G. Wight (St. -Clair) beat H. Brasch (Otago), 4 up and 3 to play The semi-finals are to be played tomorrow. The draw is as follows: —A, I. Hunter v. K. Brown; W. G Wight v G. F. Barnett. The final, 36 holes, will be played on Saturday.
