STATE GOVERNORS
QUESTION OF APPOINTING AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS.
London, February 13. It is authoritatively stated that Mr. Amery is immediately replying to the memorial of the Australian States, except Victoria, in reference to the appointing of Australian citizens as State Governors. It is understood that the matter hhs received consideration both bv the Colonial Office and the Cabinet. Meanwhile it has been decided that no Governors shall be appointed until the question has been settled. A telegram from Australia suggests the extension of the Earl of Stradbroke’s term as Governor of Victoria, but the Colonial Office has not received such a suggestion.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
