The fact that the Government has thus definitely declared itself in favour of these installations is interesting in view of the somewhat div - gent Opinions of local bodies 11 ’ e ter pointed out, among other things, that the Department was strongly in favour of underground tank storage o petrol, since that was by far the safest method. Experience had shown that a Cre could occur in a building under which the tank was placed without any risk of causing either fire or explosion in the petrol tank.
