MARANATHA. MARANATHa. ““DUT while they stood intently gazing -L* into the sky as He went, suddenly there were two men in white garments standing by them, who said: ‘Galileans, why stand looking into the sky? This SAME Jesus YVho has been taken up from you into Heaven will come in just tho SAME way as ye have seen Him going into Heaven.’ ’’ —Acts I (YVeymouth). This is such a clear, definite statement that our Lord Jesus Christ is coming again in the flesh, and supported as it is with further details'in Ist Thessalonians 4, that it is idle to deny tho contention that our Lord .Jesus Christ is coming back to tho earth actually, visibly, and personally- to His followers. This Second Coming of Christ is to be the great end of creation and redemption. That our Lord's Coming is at hand is based, also, not upon vague generalities, not upon debatable estimates as to tho character and trend of our times, but upon a reverent study of precise statements in the inspired Word of God, compared with actual occurrences of history which wo have again and again illustrated. In a recerj, issue of tho “Evening Standard’’ (London), there was a remarkable article on “The End of All Things,” and a few days later a religious article in “The Times" (London) dealing with the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, which clearly- indicates that the Spirit of God is working, and that men are thinking. Then the “Guardian” (December 18) devoted its leading article to “The League and the Second Coming,’’ pointing out the fallacy of assuming that the Kingdom of Christ can be ushered in by a human agency. Our attention has been drawn to a remarkable paragraph in the overseas "Daily Mail" of November 14,. under the heading "Poison Gas From YY’eeds,” together with the theory advanced by Mr. James Vincent, the head-keeper of the waters affected by seme mysterious calamity that has caused the destruction of “tons of fish” in Heckling Broad, Norfolk. It appears that grave concern has been caused not only to sportsmen, but also to the local population whose prosperity depends upon the sporting attraction of the Broads. I discovered, says Mr. Vincent, that there was a wholesale rush of eels to the islands, banks and shores in and around the Broad where eels, dead and dying could be seen by thousands. I believe 90 per cent, of the eels of Heckling Broad have perished.” His theory of the cause is that some time ago a strong flow of water came up from Yarmouth, bringing something more than salt, which has caused the small spongy weed which for years has been the bnne of these waters, to throw off certain gases fatal to the fish. However, a theory held locally is that poison bombs dropped by the Germans during the war, have begun to take effect. This untoward incident is just a faint indication of what shall yet happen on a large scale to render literally possible the disaster that the Apostle John witnessed in prophetic vision, Revelation viii: "There tell n great star from Heaven, burning ns it were a lamp., and it fell upon the third part of the rivers nnd upon the fountain of waters, and tbe name of the star is called Wormwood, and the third part of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.”

THE DAY OF&GRACE ENDS. OTHOU King, the Most High God, gave Nebucadnezzar, thy father, a Kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour: and for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him, whom ho would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom ho would he set up; and whom he would he put down. But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, ho was deposed from his kingly throne, nnd they took his glory from him: And ho was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like tho bensts, and his dwelling was with tho wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with tlio dew of Heaven: till be knew that tho Most High God ruled in tho Kingdom of Men, and that He appointed over it whomsoever Ho will. And thou, his son. O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewost all this- but hast lifted up thv self. . . . And the GOD IN WHOSE HAND TTIY* BREATH IS. and whose are all thy wavs, hast thou not glorified. . . /. God hath numbered thy kingdom, nnd finished it. . . . Thou nre weighed >n the balances, and art FOUND WANT-ING.-Dan. 5, 18-27.
