GRAVE CHARGES WARRANT ISSUED FOR ARREST "Dominion” Special. Palmerston North, February 12. Concerning the assault at Awahuri yesterday, as a result of which a woman and her stepdaughter are now in the Palmerston Hospital seriously injured, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ilrnest Taniwah Sutherland, husband of one of the injured women on a charge of attempted wife murder and arson. The police made a thorough search, and then advised all the stations possible, the retreat of the wanted man to Ratana’s camp-being anticipated by special instructions forwarded to that quarter. The police received information that a man answering the description had been seen at Bulls, but from there on there is no trace of his movements. He is described as being about sft. lOin. in height, and when last seen was wearing a blue suit, a grey cap, and a returned soldier’s badge. CONDITION OF PATIENTS By Tfir.iiGKAi’ii. — I’uEss Association Palmerston North, February 12. Both patients passed fairly good nights. Mrs. Sutherland is still in a serious condition.
