CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE

TIMARU RATES BETTERED

By Telegraph.—Pk ess Association

Christchurch, February 11. The third wool sale of the season in Christchurch commenced to-night, when 7000 odd bales of a catalogue of 20,000 bales were offered. The wool was in fairly good order for this time of the season, being free of seed, but there was a big proportion of tender wool. There was a full bench of buy-

ers. Though the rates prevailing at the last Christchurch sale were not equalled, there was an. appreciation of Id. per lb. on Timaru prices for medium Wool, and about . jd. on best

qualities. Prices at times were uneven, but generally the sale was spirited, particularly when big lots were offered. Bradford provided the heaviest Imying element, but the Continent and local mills (for the super wools) were prominent. America appeared little in the competition. Less than GOO bales in the 7100 offered were passed. The best price this evening was lOj-d. for lialfbt'ed Merino and Corriedale, top prices being l'.)d Fife sale will be resumed in the morning.
