PROFESSOR TENNANT’S RESIGNATION. 'At a meeting of the Board of Gover■nors of the Victoria College, last night,* -'•'Mr. R. McCallum presided, and Profesors Wilson and Hunter, Dr. D. Stout, ’■(..Messrs J. H. Howell, A. R. Atkinson, S. Eichelbaum. H. H. Parkinson, C, C. Watson. T. Forsyth, M.P., and A. Fair, were also present. The financial statement showed that the balance at the bank was £1505 12s. 2d. and at the Post Office Savings Bank £4526 17s. lid. In view of the position of Professors ,-pf Education in relation to Teachers’ Colleges, it was decided to ask Tennant to occupy the position for another twelve months, and to with-hold his resignation. The following motions were carried: . That Mrs. Maslen be appointed asF.sistant secretary and. librarian to the Classes Committee at an f . honorarium of £5O, and that a sum of i £l5 be provided for secretarial equipment That Mr. A. C. T. Brotherton, M.A., . be appointed W.E.A. tutor for the Tara-naki-Manawatu district at a salary of £4OO per annum from -February 1 to December 31. . That the Council allocate the sum of £125 as an additional library grant to make up to the Professorial' Board the amount lost in 1923 owing to the change in the currency of the financial .year. , That the Council’s representatives on the Tutorial Classes Committee for the :. vear 1926 be Messrs. Bakewell, D. O. Williams and Parkinson, and Professor Somerville. That Messrs. Cousins and Arms be re-lappointed as assistants to Professor Garrow on the same terms as for last year. / That the first Lissie Rathbone Scholarship in English and History be awarded to Miss Karen Zeisler, who hai obtained the highest marks of the thirteen candidates.
