THE NEW CRUISER
AN UP-TO-DATE SHIP
Br Tblegkaph.—PaEss Association
Auckland, January 21. The cruiser Diomede, which arrived this morning to join tlie New Zealand Squadron, is slwdltly larger than her sister ship, the Dunedin. One noticeable feature is the number of wireless aerials, in which department she is quite up to date. She was completely refitted before leaving England on November 21, coming out by way of the Panama Canal. The Diomede called at Bermuda, Jamaica, Panama, San Pedro, where she took in oil fuel, Honolulu, and Suva. While in Hawaii the captain sent a party ashore to tidy up tlie spot where Captain Cook was killed. The cruiser had a pleasant voyage, with the exception of a blow in the Atlantic.
