Air. G. A. U. Tnpper, manager of the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New Zealand, retired from his position on Wednesday, after having completed 41 years’ service, and with his family will' leave rdiortlv on a visit to England. He joined the bank at Gore in 1885, and spent 88 years’ service in Canterbury, mostly in Christchurch. For ten years he acted as an inspector. Air, Tnpper was identified for many years with local societies in Christchurch, and on the eve of his retirement w:,s presented bv prominent citizens with a well-filled wallet. with which to purchase a suitable gift when he is in England. ,
