ACCIDENTALLY SHOT
FATAL END TO RABBITING EXPEDITION

James Dugard Leach, aged 48, was found dead on Mr. George Druitt’s faun at Mamaranui last night, with a gunshot wound through the neck. It appears that at 5.30 a.in. yesterday the deceased left Mr. Druitt’s house with a shotgun for the purpose of shooting rabbits infecting a plantation, and he was not again seen alive. At the inquest this morning, witnesses stated that he must have slipped, and to save himself put the gun down stock first, and the gun exploded. The gun and his hat were found half a chain from the body. A. verdict was given that the deceased was accidentally shot Mr. Leach leaves a widow and three children.
