BRITISH RAILWAYS POLICY
USE OF EMPIRE MATERIALS London, January 13. It is stated that the London, Midland, and Scottish Railway has ordered 000,000 feet of British , Columbian Douglas fir for sleepers. This marks the opening of a new policy of British railways, confirming the purchases oi British manufactures and Empire materials wherever possible, the railways spend collectively £40,000,000 annually covering approximately fifty thousand different materials. The new policy is expected greatly to increase Empire trade.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
