Exclusive photographs of the late Queen Alexandra’s funeral received by the latest mail make a striking feature of the illustrations in this week’s issue of the “New Zealand Sporting and Dramatic Review.” Amongst the incidents depicted are the Sandringham vigil scenes outside the village church, the procession en route from Sandringham to Wolferton Station, Kings and Princes paving their last tributes guarding the coffin during the lying-in-state in Westminster Abbey, and many other graphic scenes in the snow. The centre pages are animated with snapshots of the Auckland Racing Chib’s Slimmer Carnival at Ellerslie, giving views of crowds, individual groups, and some famous competitors. Further fixtures that are pictorially represented are the Auckland Trotting Chib’s meeting, the Stratford Racing Chib’s gathering, and the Waipukurau Jockey Club’s meeting. Bowlers will be specially interested in the photographs of the English v. South Auckland representatives; a flashlight of the Ponsonby welcome also adds to the interest. Other subjects of appeal are the Waipu Caledonian Society s Snorts, the opening of the new road to Wairnki, Armistice Day in London, bathing beauty and fancy-dress competitions at Lvall Bav. Frontispiece of Dame Clara Putt will create particular attention, and stage mid film portraits have their usual attractive gallery. Advt
