TO ABOLISH COUNCIL
NEW SOUTH WALES BILL LABOUR COUNCILLORS’ PLEDGE Sydney, January 11. In the Legislative Assembly the Premier, Mr. Lang, tabled the wording of the pledge signed by .the Labour members of the Legislative Council, which reads: “I pledge myself on all occasions to do mv utmost to ensure the carrying out of the principles embodied in the Labour platform, including the abolition of the Legislative Council.” Formal notice of the introduction of a Bill to abolish the Council will be given to-day, and probably proceeded with.
The Bill to extend the electoral franchise in municipalities and shires and to provide for fresh elections at the end of the year will be reintroduced in the Assembly.—Press Assn.
