POINTING THE WAY
TRIBUTE TO LOCAL MOTOR ASSOCIATIONS. A high tribute to the manner . in which the local automobile associations have erected sign posts on the road from Masterton to Wellington was *. paid last evening by Mr. W. J. Keyes, who arrived by motor-car from Auckland yesterday, via Taupo and Napier. “The roads were so plainly charted,” said Mr. Keyes, "that it was t a pleasure to travel over them. The provision of telephones for the use of . motorists is also most helpful.” Mr. Keyes stated that he and Mr. R. S. Wylie, who drove the car, found the roads in excellent condition. Commenting upon the country they had passed through, Mr. Keyes said that Hawke’s Bay was still very dry, and the people there were apprehensive of a prolonged drought. Thev had found all the tourist resorts well patronised and good hauls of trout were reported.
