VILLAGES TO BE SOLD
THE WINCHILSEA ESTATE. London, December 27. The villages of Ewerby and Evedon, and practically all Haverholm Priory, at Sleaford, Lincolnshire, will be sold by auction in the New Year. The villages are part of the estate of the Earl of Winchilsea and Nottingham.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. [Ewerby, close to Sleaford, in Lincolnshire, has a population of 500, and Evedon is adjoining with a population of 250. Haverholm Priory, a large estate with a further population of 250, is in the same vicinity, and in the reign of Henry VIII was a nunnery of the Gilbertines, a purely English order of Benedictines that took its rise in Lincolnshire. . The district has ninny notable English homes in the vicinity, being also rich in remain's of domestic architecture from the Norman period onward. The earldom of Winchilsea was created in 1628, and that of Nottingham in 1675.' The present Earl is the thirteenth of the line.J
