NURSES AND MIDWIVES
THE NEW REGULATIONS
New regulations dealing Grith . the legistration of nurses and midwives, wore issued yesterday, and become operative on January 1, 1926. They deal with the training, examination, and registration of nurses, maternity nurses, and midwives. No certificate dealing with overseas training will be accepted by the board as qualifying the holder for registration, unless it is granted after training in an institution recognised as a training school by .the Govcrnnient of the State in which it i# situated, and the board may require any holder of a certificate to undergo additional training in New Zealand, or pass a specified examination before granting regisration. Provision is made for appeals against the board s refusal to register any applicant Tlie regulations also deal with the management of State maternity hospitals, and with the practice of maternity nurses and midwives outside public hospitals and public institutions. Records and nutificaticns, negligence, and malpractices are the subject also o_f new clauses. —
