HOME FOR AGED LADIES
ACQUIRED BY SALVATION ARMY Ab the result of many appeals made to the Salvation Army, Commissioner Hoggard has concluded negotiations for the purchase and furnishing of a home for aged ladies. The building secured is situated in Brittomart Street, Berhampore, and will be under the control of Brigadier Dennison, an officer who has had many years of experience in Army work, and who is well suited for the responsibilities that await her. The acquisition of this building Js the second 'so secured during the past few months, a property in Auckland, devoted to a similar purpose, already proving too small for the many applicants desiring admission. Mrs. C. J. B. Norwood, Mayoress of Wellington, will perform the opening ceremony on Wednesday next at 3 p.m. Miss Jean Turner’s Orchestra will render music, Mr. Leu Barnes will sing, while there will be other attractions in the form of items from Miss Hoare’s well trained 'juveniles, and the girls from the Owen Street Home will form a guard of honour for the occasion.
