ADDRESS BY LADY MARJORIE DALRYMPLE. The Girl Guide evening held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber last night drew a large and enthusiastic attendance. In introducing Lady Marjorie Dalrymple, the English Commissioner who is touring the world in the interests of the Girl Guido movement, the Rev. W. M. Holland referred to the valuable aid she hud rendered to the Girl Guides. Lady Dalrymple was received .with hearty applause. She assured thoso present, that anything she had done had been repaid a hundred fold by the success of the movement. It had been her wish for many years to come to New Zealand, and but for the present mission on which slyo had embarked this wish might never have materialised. “The movement stands for citizenship and service, and there are 'three outstanding objects,” 1 said <tho speaker. These were to do small things better in the Guide’s own home; to render loyal and efficient service to their country; a*id to become valuable citizens in the Empire. It was the duty of sons and daughters of the pioneers who made New Zealand to succeed their forefathers worthily, and the Girl Guides would play their part. The movement was not military, political or seufrtnan. “Wo want to gather the girls together in one large fold and bond of fellowship,” continued Lady Dalrymple, ‘and it is with this object that 500,000 Guides from all parts of the globe gathered at the world camp at Foxlease, England. (Applause.) . A cinema film showing numerous interesting incidents of the Foxlease camp ■was screened. This was followed by several slides depicting the AVeJlington guiders in their recent training camp at Air. Prosser’s farm, Manawatu. The programme by the Girl Guulcsl was as follows : —Songs, Wellington Guides; sword dunce, *St. Mark s Rangers; games.
