DRUNKEN MOTORIST
HEAVY FINE INFLICTED. John Taylor, a seaman, at present working oii a. farm, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-lorry, and was. fined by Mr. E. Page,- SAL. £3O and costs, in default on? month’s imprisonment. His motor-driving license was ordered to be suspended for three months. It was stated by the police that Taylor, in endeavouring to get the lorry into a stable, crashed into and damaged a .door. The Magistrate ordered Taylor to make good this damage. Although ho pleaded guilty to the charge, Taylor, when the full significance of tho offence was pointed out to him by tho Magistrate, admitted that ho had had a few drinks, but denied that ho was intoxicated.
