NEW SOUTH WALES GOVERNMENT
SUFFERS FOURTH DEFEAT. (Rec. November 19, 1.5 a.m.) Sydney, November 18. The Legislative Council, by 35 votes to 15, rejected the Bill aiming to restore seniority rights to the 1917 railway strikers. This is the Government's fourth and most severe defeat. Air. Willis stated that the Government will now take steps to see that its policy is carried out, which means that the Governor will probably be asked to appoint the sufficient new councillors to ensure the Government a majority in the Chamber.—Press Assn.
