The official opening of the Upper Hutt Bowling and Croquet Club took place ou Saturday, when there was an attendance of about 150 members and friends.

Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., in declaring the season open, referred to the progress the club had made as evidenced by the handsome new pavilion and the improvements to the grounds. Mr. P. Robertson, wife of the secretary of the club, threw the first kitty, and Mr. Field put down the first 'bowl of the season, and a good one it ivas. The croquet lawn was occupied during the aftsrnoon with games between tho members and visitors. Tho guests were entertained at afternoon tea. Tn the evening a euchre tournament was hold, the prize-winners bring Alesdames Robertson and G. Simpson.
