MAGISTRATE’S COURT

BY-LAW BREACHES. Breaches of the by-laws were dealt with by Messrs. I. Saiek and J. G. McGrath, Jd'.’s, in the Wellington S.M. Court on Tuesday. For failing to observe the regulations in regard to the proper lighting of then vehicles the following were fined the amounts stated: William Albert McCabe £1; William Frederick Curie, Arthur Hubert Hoby, William Thorpe, Douglas Stephen Wilkins, Ben Nausbaum, Ernest Gordon Burns, 10s. each; Charles Hilton, 55.; and Edward Lyon, £1 Is., being amount of costs on three charges. 1 For allowing his chimney to catch on fire, Reginald Rico was fined ss. Francis Eric Quinlivan was fined £5 for dangerous driving. Exceeding the speed limit cost George Carian and Frank Innes Dawson £2 each, and Jack Wilson £l. For leaving their cars unattended, Augustus M. Tttrtakover, Frederick C. Walker, and Arthur J. Wilson were each fined 10s. Frank Mcllendry, Culab Uko, and Say Young were each fined 10s. for smoking in an auction mart. For allowing stock to. wander the following were fined: William Darragh, £4 (two charges); Mary Feely. £3 (two charges); Septimus Knight, £3; and Leslie Lean. ss.

DEFENCE CASES. / Failure to attend drill cost Richard Ernest Beaver, £1; William JYederick Cowan, Leslie Harrington Morris, Phulip Charles Prince, Horace George Symons, 10s. each; Niel Donald Herd and Joseph Oscar Townsend., ss. each. Janies Edward Fitzroy and Vivian R. Pudney were each fined 10s. for failing to register. For failing to deliver uniforms when required to do so, Harold William White was ordered to pay 12s. 6d. and Norman Whyte 7s.

PETONE SITTING. The fortnightly sitting of the Petone Magistrate’s Court was held before Mr. E. Page, S.M., yesterday. Charged with trespassing on the railway line at Petone, Reginald George Baker and Thomas Robert Rowse were each fined £1 and costs 7s. For discharging a tirearin without reasonable cause in a public place, Alexander Johnson Thomson was lined 55., and costs 7s. For failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order by being 4:6 in arrears on October 7, William Henry Homes was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, the warant being suspended as long as 412 ss. per week is paid. 'L'lio first payment is to be made on November 25. . A maintenance order against John Harding was varied by increasing the original order to weekly instalments of 422 10s., the first payment being due on November 25. All arrears duo under the original order were remitted.. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the following civil cases:— R. McGregor v. J. Lepper, <£s 12s. lid., casts 345. 6d.; Len Jenness v. James O. H. Lepper, 155., costs 28s. 6d. The Mayor, councillors, and burgesses of the Borough of Petone v. Ernest Marston, .£lO ls.„ Courts costs 15s. Orders for possession were made in tho following cases:—The C. and A. Odlin Timber and Hardware Company v. J. F. Burton: judgment was also given for plaintiffs for rent amounting to .£33 7s. 6d., costs 413 13s. The C. and A. Odlin Timber and Hardware Company, Limited, v. A. Bolton (sued in respect of her separate estate); judgment was also given lor plaintiffs for rent amounting to .£2l 12s. 6d., Court costs .£3 13s,
