In the Magistrate’s Court, John Lee, a flaxcutter at Miranui,\was proceeded against by the Inspector, of Awards, who claimed £lO as a penalty for “on or about August 19 instigating- or abetting an unlawful strike of flaxcutters at Miranui.” The inspector stated that a dispute occurred at Miranui over fixing the price for cutting a new block of flax, and as the result two gangs ceased work. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate gave . hig decision in favour of defendant, saying that no evidence had been adduced that he had abetted a strike.
