N. Watso . u '.°V a holding North, protesting • against the holdn ig of the Wellington provincial championshins on hard courts, were considered vesterdav by the Alanagement Committee of the W.P.L.T.A. in committee. The two letters referred to stated their opinion that the decision to hold the championships on hard courts, instead of on grass, was ultra vires, and that the champions could not be called on to defend their titles except on grass courts. It was observed that E. D. Andrews, of Palmerston North, the present champion, was not a hard court player. The letters mentioned that it the association persisted on its course an appeal would be made to the N.Z.
