WELLINGTON CITIZENS’ WAR MEMORIAL
A largely attended meeting of the executive of the Wellington Citizens’ War Memorial Committee was held last night, when it was decided that the following statement be made to the public:— 1. That funds already in hand had been collected from the public on the understanding that they would be utilised for the erection of a purely symbolical memorial. 2. The executive were advised by their professional assessor that the selected site is' unsuitable for the erection of a carillon. 3. The executive arc of the opinion that the public desire the memorial to be erected as soon as possible. A resolution was carried, there being four dissentient votes. “That the executive proceed with the printing of conditions of competition for the Wellington citizens’ war memorial.”
