ROYAL SHOW STOCK SALES

ARGENTINE, CHILE, AND AUSTRALIA BUYING.

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report having sold at auction and privately during the course of the Royal Show, both stud sheep and cattle at satisfactory prices. Several overseas countlries were represented, and quite a number of notable prize-winning animals were disposed of A»number of these will bo exhibited at the forthcoming International Dairy Cattle Show to be held in "he Argentine in April, and at the Sydney Royal Show next Eastei. The top price secured was 250 guineas for the 192-t Royal champion Friesian cow. Willowvale Galatea Segis, owned by Bloomfield Farm Company, Ltd., Upper Hutt. She was first and reserve champion at this year’s show. This well-known champion goes to. Australia. The 1924 Royal champion -Friesian bull, the Now Zealand Government’s Dominion Paul Colantha, was sold at auction for IGO guineas, and is destined for the Argentine, as is Mr. T. R. Eades’s (Southland) prize-winning Friesian cow. Bainfield Sylvia Cowslip, sold for 115 guineas. Another notable Friesian, Mr. F. Crump's (Springston) Canterbury chainpion cow, Lily’s Last, was sold to the Bloomfield Farm Co., Ltd., for 104 guineas A number of younger bulls were also sold at satisfactory prices on account of Messrs. J. McAnulty, Ashburton. C. Alitchcll, Oamaru, and T. R. Eades.

Tho noted Ayrshire cow, Mr. R. S. Weir’s (Southland) Highland Mary, winner of many championships, was sold to Mr./ Southee, Walton, Waikato, at 120 guineas; a son of the Royal champion cow, Mr. R. S. AVeir’s Allandalc Trixie, was sold to Mr. P. Beverley, Matamata, at GO guineas, and the aged cow, Pretty Ist of Gowan Bank, second at the Royal, on account of Mr. John Parlaue, at 50 guineas. i \ Mr. G. S. Young’s (Southland) Royal champion Red Poll bull. The Vagabcnd. which was passed in at auction, was sold privately to Mr. B. AV. Harvey, Waverley. at 80 guineas. Air. 11. AV. AVellock’s (lapanui) Shona’s Aldan Sandy, first prize Royal yearling Jersey bull, sold for. export to New South Wales at 75 guineas; Mr. R. L. Horn’s (Levin) first prize Royal two-year-old Jersey heifer, sold to Mr. James King, Invercargill, at 75 guineas; and a pair of Mr. R. L. Horn’s yearling prizewinning heifers were also sold for ex' port to New South Wales. Tn three cases sensational figures were made for Royal champion animals, but so far business Ims not resulted. Corriedalo rams were in keen demand, and on account of AU. AV. Raynor (Masterton) four wore disposed of at prices ranging up to 75 guineas, the latter price being paid for fine hogget by the Clifton Estate. AVniwcra; on account of Mr. 11. T. Little. Hui Hui, AVoodgrove, 10 rams were sold for export to Messrs. P. and G. Hughes, Buonos Aires, Argentina These were all prize-winners. On account of tho same breeder, two outstanding rams were sold to Mr. E. Thompson, of Chile, who has already purchased a largo number of Romneys for export, and to local breeders Corriedalo rams at up to 126 guineas Ou account of Mr. F. H. Richmond, Richmond Brook, Marlborough, two prizewinning merino rams, at guineas each, and on account of- Mr. R. Anderson, Southland, Border Leicester prizewinning ram to Mr. John Miller, Mangatua, at 40 guineas. Th? firm also sold to Messrs. P. and G. Hughes. Buenos Aires, Air. VL Rayner’s reserve Royal champion Lincoln ram, , and to Alessra. Gibson Bros., Buenos Aires, Alessrs. \v. Perry and Son’s (ATnstferton) first prize Rovnl Lincoln ram hogget. A big shipment of prize-winning sheep for Argentina and Chile, comprising Romneys, Lincolns. Corriedales, and merinos, is due to leave Wellington on November 24.

STOCK SALES Alessrs. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report having offered a large yarding of sheep and cattle, at their Wanganui sal? on Friday. Although several pens of good shorn two-tooths were offered, bidding was slack and only a few'sheep changed hands. A large entry. of cattle cam* forward on account of Lismore and Morikau Stations, most of which were sold at ruling prices. Quotations: Shorn fat ewes. 265. 3d.; fat cows. £7 to £9; forward cows. £5 3s. to £6 7s. G<l.; speyed cows, £5 7s. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Alasterton salt as follows:—A good entrv of sheep, the bulk of were offered on account of Mr. H. 1. Hume, of Abbotsford, was submitted to a lame attendance. Competition was keen, and very satisfactory prices were realised. In conjunction with the W.F.C.A. we sold on account of H. T. Hume. 818 4-tooth shorn wethers, at 30s. 3d • 183 do., at 295.; 73 b.f. 2-tooth, at -2Gs. 7d.; 51 2-tooth wethers at 255. Id. ~63 /2-tooth ewes' nt 255. An entry of shorn fat ewes made 30s. 9d. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: A good yarding of cattle, well up to advertised numbers, was submitted to a good attendance of buyers.
