The Liberal Catholic Church aims at combining the traditional Sacramental form of worship witjr the widest measure of intellectual liberty.' pOR the PREACHING OF THE CROSS is to them that perish foolishness but unto US WHICH ARE SAVED it is THE POWER OF GOD. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is Hie wise? Where is the scribe? WHERE IS THE DISPUTER OF THIS WORLD? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, IT PLEASED GOD BY THE FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING TO SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling-block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them, which are called, both Jews and Greeks,! Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. —I Cor, i, 18-24. MARANATHA. MARANATHA. “POR the mystery of lawlessness al--L ready works; only (there is) he who restrains now until he bo gons, and then the Lawless One shall be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall consume with the breath of His mouth, and shall annul bv the Appearing of His Coming”—2 Thessalonians, 2, 7-9 (Darby). It is plain that this Lawless One will be a person of enormous power and influence, and as the oppeser of all that is called, God or is worshipped would be the fitting leader of the rebellious nations in their war against God. Nothing but the mighty restraining power of the Holy Spirit is holding back this onrush of lawlessness. How long it may be ere the crisis is reached, who can say, but the breaking-point must soon be reached. How needful, therefore, it is to proclaim that Our Lord’s Return cannot much longer be delayed. The dreadful storm—the Great Tribulation will not, nay, cannot, descend upon the earth until Christ’s own believing ones are safely housed by being caught up to meet their Lord in the air.
