The four leading teams in the senior championship played drawn g ames, but maintained their ladder positions of the previous week. The leaders in the senior B division remained on top, but Brooklyn moved up one place.

POSITIONS OF CHAMPIONSHIP.

SENIOR A DIVISION Y.M.C.A. (2) V. MARIST (2). For the second we?k in succession Y.M.C.A. have missed defeat by a narrow margin. Marist, who opposed the championship leaders at Association Park showed a vast improvement on their previous week’s form, and a sternly eont.-st-cd game ended in a draw, two all. Marist played an open and dashing game, and for the greater p'art of the contest were the aggressors. Their wing halves, Rudolph and Burke, played havoc with Y.M.C.A.’s wing forwards. Tarrant undoubtedly saved his side from defeat when, he held out a rocket shot which Barton slammed in from five yards out, towards the close of the match. .Marist kicked off and proceeded to break down their opponents’ ines of defence. Keeping Y.M.C.A. to their own half, the Marist forwards passed the ball from wing to wing with considerable skill. Sometimes it was sent back amongst their halves by Prince or MeGirr, but only for a brief period, when McArthur passed on to Campbell, did Y.M.C.A. get into Marist's territory. Thomas accounted for Campbell, with a strong punt to Costello, and the Marist forward crossed and re-crcsssd the goalmouth until Cudby. swinging in from the wing, met the ball with his head and directed it nearly into the net. I—o.1 —0. The Marist forwards returned to the attack, but Trott in'tiated the move which brought about equal 'sation. Campbell was next to get the ball, and seeing the impossibility of getting through in the centre, passed to C. Balard, who lobbed the ball a few yards beyond the goal-mouth, and Nicnlle darted in and headed it past Hickey. I—l. Barton and McElligott next camo info prominence, the former forcing MeGirr to concede a corner. After the corner kick had been taken, an appeal for "hands” by Marist was 1 d"el, but it was not upheld. Later Barton almost put his side in the lead from a corner. The Y.M.C.A. backs and ha’ves swept the invaders back and a few moments later the Marist. goal was in great danger from a lovely centre b v C. Ballard. . Nieolle just failed to get cnou-h force into his shot. T.'ton forced Hickey over the goat line for a corner, but Y.M.C.A. could not got the lead. Nieolle accepted a pass from Campbell and came very close to scoring. the ball bitting the cro o «l>ar. The score at half-time was one all. On resuming Costo’lo broke through the dcfenc-, and massed to Barton who was unmarked. The latter made a bad finish to Costello’s effort. Marshment also had an opening, but Trott, who played a great spoiling game, whipped the baV out of his way. Marist held on and kept their opononfs on the defence. It was now apparent that Y.M.C.A. would have to fight with all their nii’ht to retain their unbeaten record. They were in a tight corner, and but for the brilliant saves bv Tarrant nothing would have held Marist A breakaway by Ballard and Campbell ended in a corner. From the kick the ball hit the cross-liar twice—a close call for Marist. Holding their advantage the Y.M.C.A. forwards got the better of Fitzgerald . and Rudolph, and Nieolle. with a. brilliant shot, put h’s team in the lead. 2 —l. Time was well spent, and Marist. making a splendid rally, recovered their position. Tarrant held a fast shot, but let it drop at his feet. 'L-irshmeiit and Barton rushed to put the ball over th;- lino, and the latter d'd the trick—2 nil. There was no further score. Jfr. G. Goffin was referee. hospital gt v. Scottish AVANDERERS (3). Hospital and Scottish 'Wanderers played a drawn game at Pori’iin. Shortly after the start Along and Houston were prominent in forcing a corner, which Porteous cleared well. The visitors, who wo’-e nlaying nice football, attacked again and Logie crossed to Cunningham, who beaded into the net. I—o. Thon Thompson placed well to Hughes and Mullins, and McKee scored. Ono all. Scottish Wanderers scored again, and maintained the pressure until Lothian found the net for the third goal. 3—l. A corner was shortly afterwards splendidly placed by McKee to Lambert on the win", and a great centre was snapped up by Simon, who flashed the. ball into the not with a fine shot, 3—2, making a record of five goals in twenty minutes. Hospital now introduced more brightness into the play. Lambert sent the ba'l into the not. but was ruled offside. The second spoil was full nf incident. Hughes and Dick at once attacked, the latter sending nc’W n groat centre, which Mullins should have turned into (he goal. Thon Simon. Hughes, and Hick tried, tint the goalie ‘was difficult to beat. The Wanderers wore next to become dangerous, but Gibb stopped the rush. A free-kick to Hospital was well n'aced by Thompson to McKee, who followed up and scored, equalising with a fast shot, making the scoro tlir-ie all. Mr. Gilbert refereed.

Hcrhina sent .across, and blaubridge gave AicVeuu no chance with a great snot; 1. ml. Flay become interesting. Yvatersiders kept Thistle moving, and it was unly by hard work Thistle kept them out. Simpson, fed by Hunter, sent across to Logan, who tapped the ball to Wallace, who beat NicKless, and sent in a hard, dropping shot, which Cox tumbled, and enabled Logan to register his second goal; 2—l.- Watersiders after the interval set out to reduce the lead, and time and time again nearly succeeded. Proudfoot, who was now at inside-left, dribbled through, and Wellwood shet hard and fast, but McVean was safe. Proudfoot again sent in a splendid shot, which McVean saved at the expense of a corner Watersiders attacked again, and Irvine carried the ball down, and gave Proudfoot a nice pais, and that player dribbled right through, beating Wotherspoon with case, and Stanbridgo receiving a nice pass, equalised; 2 all. Brownlie next sent Patterson away to centre. Simpson appealed to be offside when he shot, and Cox failed to stop the ball entering tho net; 3 —2. Watersiders then came away in fine stylo, but Thistle retaliated, and a fine shot was sent in by Simpson. Spectators on the line claimed no goal, and the referee consulted the linesman, and gave a goal; 4—2. Mr. C. Kelly refereed.

DIAMONDS (3), v. INSTITUTE (1). At ’Association Park Diamonds accounted for Institute by 3 goals to 1. The defeated team had an unhill fight, as their ranks were very much weakened by the absence of Jeffreys and H. Smith. At. half-time the score was 2 to nil in Diamonds favour. Dickinson scored an excellent goal from a corner and an Institute player sent the ball through bis own goal. Farly in the second half Kallaher scored for Institute. The goal coividerably stiffened the Institute attacks, but Cutler was always safe. R. McLeod scored Diamonds third goal after drawing the Institute goalies out of position, lhe game ended: Diamonds 3, Institute 1. Mr. L. F. C. Cooper was the referee. SENIOR B DIVISION Y.M.C.A. (4), v. JOHNSONVILLE (1). Y.M.C.A. and Johnsonville, the teams leading for the second A division championship, met at Kelburn Park on a muddy ground. The game was clean, the footwork on both sides clever, and the passing worth seeing. Towards the middle of the second half there was a slight fall of snow, followed by aaiu. The first half • closed without ■score. In the second Robbins took the ball down but was robbed at a critical moment. After a save by Hill at the expense of a corner, Worth shot a goal, I—o. Almost immediately afterwards a Johnsonville attack ended in Moore shooting a fine goal, one all. Y.M.C.A. returned to the attack and Hill gave, a corner, which went behi”d. Then Stark fed Wilkins, whose shot was saved by Hill, but lie slipped and the ball dribbled in, 2—l. 'Worth scored again for YAI.C.A.. and before the close the total reached four, while the Johnsonville score remained unaltered. Mr. W, Legge refereed. BROOKLYN (5), v. DIAMONDS (0). At Wakefield Park', Brooklyn beat Diamonds by 5 goals to nil. W. Anton opened the score with a hot shot, and from a centre by Buckmaster Keeble found the net. ' Five minutes later Anton scored his second goal. In the second. Buekmaster put in a lovely centre and Diamonds’ goalie let it go 'between his legs, and later W.
