LATE MARQUESS CURZON
TRIBUTES IN PARLIAMENT AND PRESS By Telegraph—Press Association Copyright. (Rec. Alarch 22, 5.5 p.m.) London, Alarch 21. Directlv the House of Commons met the Prime Alinister (Mr. S. Baldwin) said that he was sure the whole House would regret Alarquess Curzon’s death, respecting which he would move the official motion on Alonday. Air. J. H. Thomas, on behalf of the labour Partv, sympathised with Cabinet in the 'loss of a great and loyal colleague. He said that the country had lost a great statesman. Sir Godfrey Collins paid a tribute to Lord Curzon'on behalf of the Liberals. The newspapers are paying extended and very warm tributes to Alarquess Curzon’s life and achievements under the handicap of a spinal injury. The choice of his successor in Cabinet is already the subject of. conjecture. There' is a strong opinion that Earl Balfour will be invited to accept the position. The funeral service will be held in Westminster Abbey on Wednesday, and the interment will take place at Kedleston on Thursday.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Paris, Alarch 21
Though the Press pays a tribute to Alarquess Curzon as a great British statesman, all sections agree that he was no friend of France. Right papers attribute to his inelastic and unadaptable mind most of the post-war Anglo-French friction.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Amu.
