The Sydney City Council at a special meeting approved the 'extension of Martin Place through to Macquarie Street, and the technical officers were instructed to take the necessary steps to arrange for the extension. The Lord Mavor said that he believed the net tost to the council would not exce'ed £lOO,OOO.
