PRODUCTION SEASON REVIEWED
“VERY LITTLE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT” By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, June 10. In reviewing at the opening of the Winter Show to-day the production season just ended, Mr. Massey said that there was on the whole very little to complain about. He urged the necessity of bringing sheep flocks up to the numerical strength of 1918, saying that this year there was an increase of half a million over last year, which in turn showed an increase of 800,000. He urged that greated attention be given to the export of bacon, and hoped that Britain would encourage the apple trade, saying that that a preference of ss. per cwt. against foreigners would make all the difference. He still hoped that Imperial preference would be considered by the British Government. The way to meet foreign competition was to be very jealous of the quality of our products and to send the British consumer exactly what he required.
