WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. LOCAL BILL. WELLINGTON CITY EMPOWERING AND AMENDMENT. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is the intention of the Wellington City Council to introduce in the forthcoming Session of Parliament tho Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Bill. The objects that the said Bill is intended to effect are: — 1. To authorise the exchange of land at Queen’s Park, in the City of Wellington, for Town Belt purposes. 2. To authorise the City to take over as public streets the following private streets and private ways:— Bresnahan Terrace, Heaton Terrace, Kennedy Street, Rixon Grove, Torquay Terraco, Tutchon Avenue, Wesley Road, Whittaker Street, Lindum Terrace, Grass Street Extension (East of Town Belt), Beauchamp Street (Wadestown), And to provide that the provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to such streets when taken over. 3. To abolish the limitation upon Tramways and Lighting Accident Funds. 4, To confer further powers on the City in respect of tho widening, altering. and extending of streets, and to authorise the City Council to purchase lands for that purpose; to sell surplus lands, and to borrow money by way of Special Loan by Special. Order for the purpose of purchasing land for this purpose, and for the purpose of constructing, widening, altering, and extending .streets. 5. To repeal Sections 7 and 9 of the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897, Section 6 of the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1899, Sections 3,4, and 5 of the Wellington City Empowering Act, 1908, and the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Act. 1913. 6. To extend the time for carrying out the Evans Bay Reclamation. 7. To authorise the making of by-laws to fix the charge for the Zoo for all days of the week, including Sunday, of not exceeding one shilling for persons over 15 years of age. 8. To amend Section 11 of the Wellington City Empowering and Special Rates Consolidation Act, 1923, so as to make it clear that that section only applies to loans in respect of which rates are made after the passing of- the Act and before the first day of April, 1924. 9. To extend to ten years the time within which the Council may borrow moneys for the following loans: — (1) LOAN FOR TRAMWAY'S— Kelburn, Karori, and Northland Tramway Extension, viz, Willis Street, Aro St, and Raroa Road; Extension to Northland £66,986 (2) LOAN FOR TRAMWAYS. Tramway Extension to Melrose (Sutherland Road), from Zoo Gates £12,900 (3) LOAN FOR TUNNEL. New Tunnel through Mount Victoria £1G1,250 (4) LOAN FOR FIRE PROTECTION BUILDINGS, FIRE ALARMS, AND EQUIPMENT, Etc. In Brooklyn, Mornington, Island Bay, Ngaio, Khandallah, Kelburn, Northland, Karori, Roseiieath £21,500 A copy of tho above Bill and a plan of the lands affected by the exchange at Queen’s Park have been deposited in Ijo Magistrate’s Court, Lambton Quay, Wellington. and also at. the Town Clerk’s Office, Town Hall, Cuba Street, Wellington, and such copies are there for p'ublic inspection for a period of three full weeks from the first publication of this advertisement.
