DAMAGE FROM FLOOD (BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS association.) I.OPI'ttIGUT. London, June 2. Tropical downpours continue in many districts in the south and west of England. Train and tram services are disorganised in several towns. Wide stretches are under water, and crops have been washed away. The Thames rose two feet in forty-eight hours. The rainfall for one day was equal to the average rainfall for a fortnight. Serious destruction is reported in the Severn and Wye Valleys, where many villages are isolated by the smaller bridges being carried away. There i s much damage in Staffordshire and Cheshire. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
