SCHOOL COMMITTEES
* ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of delegates to the Wellington School Committees’ Association was held last night, Air. A. J. White presiding. A considerable amount of discussion took place on the chiuses in the annual report, already published, especially in regard to free school books, after which flic report was adopted. 'l'he balance-sheet showed that tho receipts, including £lB 16s. for Chatham Island children, totalled £65 6s. lid., the balance at the end of the year being £39 lid., of which £32 18s. sd. was held in trust. Thirteen guineas were owing for annual subscription* The election of officers resulted as follows President, Rev. Dr. Leatclipole (Berhamporo); vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Sando (Lyall Bay), J. H. Whittaker (Brooklyn), and J. AV. Trim (To Aro); secretary, Mr. W. B. Jstone Jjvall Bay); treasurer, Air. J. W. Salmon (Newtown), re-sleeted: auditor, Air. A. Parlane (Wadestown); solicitor, Mr. H. H. Cornish.
