SHAG POINT STATION
FULL POWER NOT YET AVAILABLE Yesterday morning tho Mayor (Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P.) paid a visit to self how things were at Wellington’s new centre of electrical generation. It was stated last week, on tho authority of Mr. M. Cable, that the new station would be taking over the full tramways lead during the week-end. This, however, did not eventuate, and tho Mayor stated as the result of his inquiries yesterday that the full tramway load could not be taken over for about three weeks yet, as the new sub-station at Wellington South would not be ready until then to handle tho current required to bo broken down there for the Island Bay line. Speaking to the Mayor, the superintendent of the power-house at Evans Bay, stated that so far everything had gone without a hitch. 'Hie new plant was the most up-to-date in tho world, and so would be the plant of the sub-station at Newtown, and o'ice the full load was on there would bo little need to worry.
