RINGING-IN CHARGES SOME SENSATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS IMPORTANT CLUES Important developments are expected at any time now in connection with matters which the New Zealand Trotting Association has been actively investigating for the last three years. It is reported that during the past few days there have been some sensational! developments in connection with the ringing-in charges that will be heard at the Supreme Court in Christchurch next week. Various rumours have been in circulation for some time past to the effect that many more prominent persons than those who have already been indicted have been involved m transactions in connection with trotting, and although most of the stories are probably only the result of idle gossip, those intimately associated with the sport have been of opinion for some time that mere is at least a substratum of truth underlying them. Is is known that the New Zealand Trotting Association has been actively investigating certain matters for the past three years, and although the actions of certain individuals hav* been deemed io be highly suspicious, evidence 'has not been considered strong enough to warrant any drastic action being taken. However, recent events have spurred both the association and the police into renewed activity. Important clues have been revealed, and it is now stated that an individual who seemed more or less involved in one of the cases already before the courts has made a clean breast of the whole business, and important de velopments are anticipated at anytime.
