LAST YEAR’S OPERATIONS REVENUE & EXPENDITURE A statement made at the beginning of the week by the Minister of Railways respecting the operations of the Department during the year ended March 31 has been followed by the gazetting of detailed figures showing revenue and expenditure of the working account for that period. The principal items in the return, compared with those for the previous year, are as follow, shillings and pence being omitted: — REVENUE.

Grand total 6,403,765 5,502,496 The percentage of revenue to expenditure in the North Island was 71.06 in 1923-24 and 76.86 in 1922-23; in the South Island it was 86.88 in 1923-24 and 89.05 in 1922-23; a total of 77.37 in 1923-24 and 81.79 in 1922-23.
