PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The fortnightly meeting of the letone Borough Council was held: last night. Tlie Mayor (Mi’. J. V. McEwan) presided, and there were also present Councillors Coles, Brocklebank, Steffanson, Jacobsen, Jones, Hay, and Cook. The Mayor and Councillor Cook were appointed to inspect, with representar tives of other local bodies interested in the Taita Cemetery, the land it is proposed to acquire for cemetery purposes. , Further particulars are to be obtained before the council comes to any definite decision in respect to purchase of the native quarry on the Hutt Road. ... „ Consideration of Mr. AV. T. Strand s road proposals was held over until next meeting. The Public Works Department is to be asked to contribute towards the cost of repairing dariiage done to roads by the extraordinary motor traffic resultant upon the railway strike. Arising out of a protest by Councillor Jones, the City Council is to be asked, to repair the cycle track on the Ilutt Rond.
