A GREAT SAPPHIRE
Delhi, April 25. Great interest has been aroused among gem merchants at the reported discovery in Ceylon of a sapphire weighing half a pound. As its size precludes a ready sale, it is suggested that it be cut into sections of sixteen carats. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [A remarkable find of sapphires was reported from Pelmudulla, fifty miles from Colombo, recenty. Dozens of stones weighing up to half a pound were found, some said to be worth 50,000 rupees (£5000) in the rough. The stones were discovered in a paddy field."l
